It speaks of git development as if just starting, whereas IRL it's working wonders and has been for months. |

I think the gist of the story is not git development but all the other bitkeeper using FOSS projects that are now suddenly faced with the prospect of being "homeless". It is unfortunate that these projects are under "threat" from the "McVoy-license-cancellation". On the other hand, if they had success in using Bitkeeper, they might look into git. Linus wrote git to replace Bitkeeper. Alternatively, they look into Monotone and help the project out with the development. Linus seriously considered Monotone before settling on his own git. If all Bitkeeper ex-patriots chip in, Monotone would be ready in no time to host the ex-bitkeeper projects. |

It's about mysql's development problem I think they will switch to subversion . So that is the problem with propietary tools : lock-in and lost time converting to other more open (OSS) ones |

Hopefully, the lesson will be taken to heart by many corporate lurkers. |
