Note the disparity between the headline and the article; the article is about "Linux has captured a small share of global paid client operating environment shipments since 2000" and "Linux market share is increasing at a slower rate due to the overwhelming position held by Microsoft's pervasively deployed client-operating environment products." It does give a grudging nod to "Linux has shown strong growth in worldwide server operating environment shipments since 2000, but again at the expense of other vendors, with little impact on Microsoft's market share." Once again the FUD flies with a deliberate disregard for real-world conditions, ignoring tens of millions of free downloads, and zillions of repurposed winduhs machines. Oh how I wish I could get paid for being wrong all the time. |

Quoting: how I wish I could get paid for being wrong all the time Correct me if I am wrong: but isn't that the definition of a hired marketing consultant? |

Being wrong is the easy part. My wife tells me I have that ability perfercted. To get paid, you have to be wrong in the right way... |

number6x - you are correct, I was being a bit too flippant in my response. What I really had in mind was the stories I heard about "consultants" that were hired just to confirm their clients' predilections. Moreover, these outfits were called repeatedly to perform in a similar manner on other issues of interest. The second unstated point would have been too, that where there is a ready fount of cash as a mosquito follows the rising carbon dioxide gradient towards a blood feast, so too do the financial hired guns migrate by instinct towards the cash. |
