This question is about the article: Microsoft Pushes for Privacy Legislation http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11... What's wrong with it? (Think!) If you still don't know: Melinda Gates is in the board of directors of Washington Post (thanks to Tom for pointing me to this fact a while ago). I don't think they are con$erned about my privacy, I think this is another step to DRM etc. |

This is Microsofts move against Massachusetts.
Tie the whole country up with a law that accidentally on purpose over-rides state law.
So at a swipe, Massachusetts are back to where they were before.
And the risk of something similar happening elsewhere is quashed at the same time. Very clever and desperately cynical. I do hope the US doesn't go down this road because if they do, Europe will be next. f Microsoft can get in with the big content providers via a privacy law then the next thing will be "no one without Windows can access American content". It would be a mistake of epic proportions if this were to happen. |
