...but if XGI is really releasing their Volari drivers under a GPL-compatible FOSS license, I'll kick my Geforce 4 Ti 4400 out of my box. I'm using the nv driver so I've not tainted my kernel, but a true Free 3D experience would be nice to have. Well, Santa's coming to town shortly. Who knows what he might bring ;) |

If this is true, I'd certainly use one as a replacement or with a new box. Looks like good specs. I find it absurd that others don't do the same. What possible harm is there in releasing a driver under GPL??? What use is this to be put to other than to power one of the company's cards and thus increasing sales for them? Oh yeah, we are all going to build new cards off that info.... what BS. ATI and NVidia take note. |
