Kodak cameras are especially troublesome. I have a Z612, so I know.

The fix is simple if you are willing to spend $20.00.

Get yourself a Sandisk 5-in-One reader. It requires no drivers beyond usb mass-storage.

You insert your memory card, and it acts like a mini drive.

It works out of the box with SUSE & Ubuntu - don't know why they would be so special.

If it works in Ubuntu, it should work in Debian testing.

First make sure you are member of camera group, if you are not add user to it.

eg.

# groups foobar # adduser foobar camera

Try to attach camera again.
