5:55 AM EST 		There seems a lot of disagreement on this subject at present as is usual for benchmark brawls/err studies. Here is another set of benchmarks comparing Ubuntu 32bit and 64bit:

That study concludes there is a significant 64bit advantage particularly for cpu intensive apps....
