I tried SimplyMepis yesterday, and couldn't find where to set up networking, so I was unable to connect to my local network and the internet. In finally gave up and removed it.

PCLinuxOS is quite good, not as good in my opinion as Mandriva (on which it's based), strangely. It has a few rough edges, but I did install it for an old bloke who wanted his computer upgraded from Windows ME.

Ubuntu (kubuntu, xUbuntu), well in my opinion it's over hyped, and certainly doesn't deserve it's place as number 1 distro. It is I think a case of Marketing over substance.

Recently I've also Fedora Core 6, it failed to impress me, not then least because it has the GNOME desktop, like Ubuntu, it seems unfinished.

I also tried Xandros 4.1 yesterday, it's actually quite good, the only problem I had with it was locating CODECs and a decss library

I have yet to find a Distro that impresses me as much as my Mandriva 2007 Power Pack, actually the Free version is pretty much the same al that is missing are some commercial applications that I'm not using anyway.
