I don't want my contribution refunded. I want you to use it for any other Linux project that it could help. One possibility would be this bloke http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39291 |

We already have something in the works to help support this guy. The tux500 project is sucking all the air out of the room right now but as soon as the flag drops, he is on our number one hit list. h |

Same goes for me. If the deal blows, just channel my money somewhere else useful. |

Here is something I came across that I think you all might find as funny as I did..I almost spewed milk all over my monitor.. Its a random image generator.. http://www.ghettodriveby.com/ In the upper right-hand corner type in Tux500 and see what comes up.. :-) |

Lol, then hit the 'random video'. Looks like peatie now fully supports Tux500 ;-) |

We will not miss the minimum donation limit. We will not. All I can say. h |

> We will not miss the minimum donation limit. Hopefully true !! :) From the Tux500.com site, the cumulative sponsorship to date is just over $11K, with just over two weeks left in the campaign. At this rate, the total sponsorship for the entire duration of the 41-day campaign would be estimated at somewhere below $20K. Of special concern would be any lingering effects of the original "scam-busting" reputation-ruining campaign by PP :( Very appropriate front page news article related to the latter subject in Sunday's SF Chronicle (SFGate.com) entitled 'Web can ruin reputation with stroke of a key', found at http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/05/... |

I think all of us going into the project knew that even with ideal conditions, coming anywhere the 350K mark was a daunting task. Not impossible, just not a feat easily obtainable in a 41 day period. We knew that. There will not be anything mentioned now about the possibility that other influences may have damaged the effort. This effort is bigger than a momentary assault. Any damage it may have caused is not measurable. However, the community was able to glean some obvious facts from it and that in itself can be as valuable in the long run as any success the Tux500 project may achieve. Trust me on this. $25.000.00 will be reached in Linux community contributions and our logo and our community will receive airtime during the month-long Indy 500 activities. That in itself is a victory and has already been lamented by some in the community. There are some being vocal about actually wanting to see this fail. I do take a bit of comfort in their obvious unhappiness. As far as the specific name-calling and accusations leveled? um umm ummmm, all some can hope for is a server crash at google. And as you can see in Scotties Forum post, those most against what we are doing are now perceived as being some of our staunchest supporters. You can't purchase that kind of publicity. h |

Well, who needs to hear about the detractors whose only goal is to detract (meaning they actually don't have a real argument). No need to mention them so often as you seem to do. Just do your thing, and succeed. Noone can stop you. Cheers |
