Cinelerra has been a mainstay of my computing life for the last five years or so. Unfotunately, the current version is now 18 months old, and in need of improvements. Here's hoping that movement is progress. |

TC - She's adorable!! What is she? We are currently fostering a Beagle/min pin puppy. Also adorable. When life gets straightened out, however, really REALLY want a German Shepherd pup. |

That's our little Firecracker pup. Some [searing expletives deleted] moved away and left him. We brought him home on July 4th, hence the name :) He has grown into a 45-pound bundle of energy, and he sure knows how to work those eyes. Here are Cracker and his brother, who was also a dump job: http://bratgrrl.com/catdogtail.jpg Insulin, anyone? |

Hats off for giving good (but abandoned) animals a place to hang out. Just today, my oldest daughter was burned by somebody who came to adopt the little pup we were fostering, but returned the poor little boy in less than a day and raised alarms that resulted in large (needlessly -- but hey, #1 daughter got nervous and it was too late to go anywhere but the emergency room) vet bills. Sigh. Why do people take animals if they are not prepared for them to be living little creatures? |

I had a Staffordshire terrier (Muir) I found chained to a tree in an abandoned back yard that I had for 14 years and I now have a cat (Cleo) that someone had abandoned in an apartment complex I lived in a few years ago that took in. |

My mom wanted a small dog, a lap dog. She got a German Shepherd Dog from the Humane Society. She couldn't have done better. This GSD is well-behaved, quiet, still a dog with all the doggy instincts that come with the package, but well-adapted to living with my parents. Sometimes, the unexpected is where the greatest good lies. |

Two of the most wonderful dogs my family had were abandoned. The first, when I was maybe 8, was part German Shepherd, certainly, but black and white and wonderful. Then, when I was living in the Great White North, one winter morning I came out to get in my car and I heard a growl. Growl? Luckily, the above dog was (for very little time more) still with us and I had some dog treats. Sure enough, after a moment's coaxing, a little brown nose poked out from behind part of an old couch that was sitting in the carport in sub-zero temps. A puppy, very young, let me take her into my arms and _that_ was _that_. I have never had so perfect an understanding of an animal, nor one who understood me so well, as her. We just "clicked". I only had to think of what I wanted her to do and she'd do it, and she never seemed unhappy. Hit by a car one year later. |

I have a cat that was rescued from under magpie's beak. She's over 15 now and shows no signs of age :) And she doesn't know she's a cat.Quoting:Why do people take animals if they are not prepared for them to be living little creatures? People want cute toys, not living creatures. |

>People want cute toys, not living creatures. Which is sad, because a good animal companion is so much more than even the best of toys. |

I told you this crowd was nice, suckers but nice.
We have three, all foundlings to be sure. I haven't
been to the doctor for years and years but those dogs
are well attended by the vet. Just another sucker. Xena, Gabrielle and Jack. You know Xena and Gabrielle but you don't know Jack! |

CP, et al, there are times when "sucker" is not an insult, but an honor. |
