Wishing all LXer readers a very Merry Christmas and all the very best in 2009. It's been terrific being part of the Lxer community.

Barbara From the "Great White North" where everyone from coast to coast to coast in Canada will have a white Christmas -- even in balmy Victoria, British Columbia.

I hear ya... I spend 4 hours last night and early this morning at the Edmonton Airport waiting for my in-laws to arrive from Victoria. They were supposed to get in at 00:08 in the morning (after many delays) and they finally arrived at 2 am. Got home at 3 and I'm a total vegetable at work today. I hear that the lower coast is getting another touch of love from mother nature right now.

In Edmonton right now...Bright sunshine, -20c light wind making it feel like -30c expected to tank this evening to -31. Hope Santa's got antifreeze up there....

Can someone go over some of the finer points of global warming problem for me? If people in the tropics are getting worried about rising temperatures, they can move up here. We'd gladly trade.

All kidding aside, I hope everyone gets to where they want to be this Holiday Season and a very Merry Christmas (or whatever Holyday you celebrate) and a Peaceful New Year to all.

Thanks to the LXer staff for the informative and entertaining articles this year. Good job, Keep it up.

Nick.

"Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!"

I actually got a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, complete with red ball ornament, bent top branch, and a blue scarf to wrap around the base.

Merry Christmas and the best holiday greetings! No matter where you live or what you believe, this is generally a season of frequent, common, and popular holidays. I wish you pleasant memories with family and friends, or in whatever way you choose to spend this time, to do so with both peace and happiness in your heart.

@Steven: Glad you liked our holiday logo. It features the old style incandescent tree bulbs, of course. Maybe next year we will update to the modern LED variety. Just think of it, for now, as nostalgia.

No spoilers please! I was with family yesterday so I taped it. Haven't seen it yet. (I'm a Big Dr. Who fan. Capital B).

Sander --

I can't help myself:

The Doctor says "Allons-y". Twice.

Shocking, I know...but still worth watching the show.

Now, let's go.

I've been a doctor who fan since almost the beginning, when it was in black and white, and William Hartnell was the Doctor.

The doctor was never in black and white. Your eyes simply had trouble with all the time distortion. I presume they've been upgraded since.

I started watching much later than that -- with scarf boy. Had a scarf just like his. Only because it was warm, of course.

And just like the Doctor's!!!!!

My lady and I decorated our tree with those bulbs, the C7 bulbs, for the very sake of nostalgia and feeling like a couple of kids again. Our tree is wonderful, with those big bulbs, golden garland and tons of tacky ornaments...the best Christmas tree ever!

@dino:

Just to set the record straight, the programme switched to colour during Jon Pertwee's tenure as the Doctor.

Although maybe you were simply joking...

It is possible that you are not one of the gifted few with the special wibble-wobble color cones in your eyes. In that case, early episodes would indeed appear to be mere shades of gray.
