and almost trivially, I'd say this is a highly probable future. |

I started the process of installing what was needed to view NetFlix online videos on my WinXP VirtualBox install. After all, "Windows Only" services is what I keep it for. Well, turns out that it runs through this "Silverlight" claptrap, and when I saw the EULA I choked and walked away. It's going to take something special before I'll ever use it. That special thing may be an implementation that isn't written by Microsoft. |

While MSFT surface itself is doomed, CNN's multi point large HD wall display which was used in the article is really cool. As for Surface I would love to play an strategy game that way. Think Command and conquer. There is an Iphone variant of C&C. While i miss somethings that only a keyboard can provide that is easy enough to work with if you have a large display. It is a good concept for certain games, and white boards. |

Bob: What was different about the Silverlight EULA that you didn't already agree to when you installed Vista? |

Quoting:What was different about the Silverlight EULA that you didn't already agree to when you installed Vista? or XP |

While my machine did come with a copy of XP, it did not come with this particular copy of XP, so I assume I'm breaking some of their rules. Thus is why this XP is not up to date on lots of patches, etc. The Silverlight EULA looked a LOT like it was going to not just authenticate itself, but also the XP its run upon. Or simply require exactly the patches and updates which, themselves, require Microsoft's Genuine Advantage Over Me. |
