Luckly I am not LXer personnel then. I really can't afford the time off work, the airline ticket, the hotel and ancillary costs right now.

Bah, journalists are only the third most despised critters on the planet. First comes Lawyers and Advertising Execs ... we can probably add High Finance Bankers too the list too, so make journalist fourth.

Azerthoth already got 90%+ of them with his first category above, NoDough. And the non-lawyer ones are probably the only good ones.

> ...journalists are only the third most despised critters on the planet.

Of course, the journalists who are despised are those who pretend to experts on every topic under the sun and completely objective, all the while spewing forth the most inane, biased garbage you could ever find.

Scott knows his field, admits what he doesn't know, and states his bias up front. That almost removes him from the category.

Kind of like as Spider Robinson once said on the difference between a critic and a book reviewer. The former will tell you if its art, the later will tell you if its any good to read.

I blame this largely on their college training.

When you take composition courses, they teach you certain rules. Rules like; Never us words like 'I', 'me', 'my', etc. Never use words like 'thiink', 'believe', 'opinion', etc.

When a journalist follows the rules the passage, "In my opinion the world is flat. That is my belief." --becomes-- "The world is flat."

@jdixon, In a 'Journalistic" sense, that is the one of the highest compliments I have ever received, Thank You.

No one listed "revolutionaries". Or admins. Or Hippies. Or people who drive Fords. Or anyone I don't like even if I don't know why.

All of you coming to the New Mexico Linux Fiesta please wear a smile and have fun! Or there will be another list.
