Occasionally something happens that makes us pleased with human nature once again.

I just upgraded to an Asus RT-N66U wifi box in order to take advantage of its higher speeds. Usually I am pretty quick to slap on dd-wrt so that I can get control of a new box and start bending it to my will, but this time I played with the stock vendor software a little bit first. To my surprise, this Linux-based product comes with vendor supported root. Just enable telnet in the configuration gui, and a local login gets you to a root prompt. No documentation on this, but hey, I'm happy. No, actually, I'm delighted.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if more vendors would quit fighting with their customers and just start to delight them. Thank you Asus!
