Good idea or bad idea?

11:56 AM EST 		Is linux ever in a state where the good old standby console can be reached by a user space alternative could not?

2:56 PM EST 		It's all in the execution. If he succeeds in trashing the old console and the new one is poo, then it's a bad idea. If it's an actual improvement, and is reliable, and has documentation so users don't have to telepath how to use it, then it's a good idea.
