Maybe I just haven't been reading the same sites, but have there really been rumours of Apple failing? Or is this just one of those "this will look good as a headline" type of things? |

I think it's a headline grabber. The tech journalist's equivalent of "assault weapon". |

He's referring to people saying that without Steve Jobs, Apple will start to falter and gradually fade to a niche player again. Of course, that's actually still possible; one successful phone launch doesn't guarantee that Apple is not in decline. However, even more possible is Apple ending up somewhere in between their pinnacle of success of a couple of years ago and a company that needed Microsoft to bail them out in the nineties. |

One successful Windows launch doesn't guarantee that Microsoft is not in decline. YES! Of course, how long has it been since Microsoft had a successful Windows launch? *snerk* |

> Of course, how long has it been since Microsoft had a successful Windows launch? When did Windows 7 come out? It's been fairly successful as the successor to XP. |
