Who is Gregory Smith? Who is he quoting in the message as saying it's been cancelled?

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=systemd-shim shows available packages in testing and unstable, maintained by Steve Langasek.

https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/systemd-shim shows latest news being [2014-09-21] systemd-shim 8-2 MIGRATED to testing (Britney)

Snagged a gmail address, ended up with a Youtube and G+ account.

Given the content i don't think i would take any of his claims at face value.

BTW, the email seems to have been cross-posted between LKML and a couple of debian lists.

I also wouldn't take at face value any of Poettering's claims that systemd-shim can accommodate sysvinit for awhile, either. Especially not after his (Poettering's) flaming gambit against Torvalds lst week and saying that "open source is 'sick', kernel community 'awful'"!!

Second 'truth': 3 + 1 = 4

Yes, 2 'truths' can be true.
