Don't always do justice to the distribution. The fonts are obviously too small, the conky is off the screen, the panel hangs off the bottom, the major new feature isn't shown, the plymouth startup screen doesn't appear in the vm. None of those 'issues' appear when compared to the screenshots on the homepage, metal installs and live boots on actual computers. Softpedia's article of the new beta shows the distribution in it's correct state. Perhaps get a hold of them and see what they are using or how they do it. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Lubuntu-based-LXLE-Distro-Now... |

After booting the distro, we change the screen resolution to 1280x800 and take the screenshots, as is, for a fair comparison across all distros. Some distros, like this one, can't seem to handle the screen resolution change without throwing things our of whack.. Bare metal installs don't guarantee a better experience. Many distros can't handle HDPI (aka Retina) - they simply look terrible. |

*** Correction by poster *** after further investigation it looks like the Lubuntu screenshots also have the panel only partially on the screen as well but when clicking to see the full resolution, the panel is shown as it should be. Is there a possibility that perhaps the dimensions of the screenshot previews window is a bit too small? I still feel the same about the second reply posted. |

I would probably be fine with that if LinuxScreenshots were a capabilities comparison website and not a screenshots website, which would lead one to think that it would be more about good screenshots that show the distribution in it's natural correct state rather than what it can or can't do when dealing with particular technologies. |
