How much did Jack get paid to recommend a fringe distro of Linux?

They pay ZDNet, not Jack directly. http://techrights.org/n/2024/04/17/Jack_Wallen_Has_Been_Assi... http://techrights.org/n/2024/04/04/t_2__2_The_Corrupting_Inf...

Just out of curiosity, what's the going rate per article for a freelance writer on one those/these sites anyway?

I know that a lot writers get paid for their opinions but still..I don't necessarily get paid for my opinions but even if I did I don't think it would change my opinions as a writer or editor any. Bob has never once told me what to write and I know he never would.

About 20 years ago when I wrote for datamation.com as a freelancer they paid 50-200 dollars per article depending on the article; topics were suggested and needed approval, but then they'd water down the article to protect advertisers like Microsoft. Publishers and editors can work against the writers. They have an accounting POV.

So if the 'going rate' two decades ago was 50-200 bucks then I'm guessing it would be on the high end of that these days.. $150-200. That sound about right? I'm just trying to get an idea for my own interests.
