I was invited to go and spend weekend time as a speaker at the OSCAL conference. The request to support harassment victims was not something that was anticipated.

Windows is down, Android is surging, and even GNU/Linux is doing reasonable well.

Can Free software bridge the economic gap? Well, it certainly can help. Removing financial barriers can help a lot. That can also help people from underprivileged communities or developing (poor) countries get involved, either as developers or something else.

One must therefore assume they have nothing to say in their defence (covering up severe security failings). IMAGINE something very damaging being presented, with full context, based on original material, right from the horse's own mouth. One might expect, at the very least, a face-saving statement, such as "well, that was a long time ago" or "we learned our lessons"...Well, Debian does not work that way. Instead, like a cult, it only attacked the messenger.

Maybe the key point was to say "Linux is not secure either" or "Windows and Linux are equally vulnerable", so don't bother dumping Microsoft.

Please consider helping them piece together the missing bits. Dozens of people spent a considerable amount of time preparing these talks and some traveled (physically) to Boston in order to present these talks.

We need to publicly talk about those things because if we lack freedom of expression we will, in turn, lose our freedom of thought. In turn, in the absence of facts, people lose a sense of reality. Lies become perceived truisms or axioms

How did Debian get something so basic... so very wrong?

Norway seems like quite a "world leader" in GNU/Linux adoption. Nobody would argue that Norwegian users do so to "save money". Norway is a rich country.

It is now more than 48 hours after my first disclosure about the Edward Brocklesby affair and there is no comment whatsoever from the Debian security team. The only comments they make are to attack me personally, a reprisal for raising another serious security concern.

I keep getting contacted by people who had been serially defamed by the serial defamer. They tell me they wish to testify on the matter. Some just ask me questions about it, for instance: "What did they send your wife?"
