XBMC developer smspillaz, the man responsible for the XBMC Weston hack a few months ago, is now rounding the final turns towards XBMC being fully compatible with Wayland.

Gnome announced today that their latest development release 2.9.4 is out and ready for the everyday risk-takers consumption, and with it come some new–and perhaps even exciting– changes. Gnome 2.9.4 is the latest development snapshot leading up to Gnome 2.10 in September.

From the deepest darkest corner of the deepest darkest dungeon of Bizarro World, Brian Lunduke releases Linux Tycoon, his closed-source game about an open source operating system for a closed source operating system no one uses. Linux Tycoon, the “premier Linux Distro Building Simulator game in the universe”, is now available for DOS.

Well now that news is out in the wild that Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 is now an official Ubuntu derivative, you’re probably wanting to test it out. Problem is, there is no ISO for it. That makes it pretty hard to try it out… We were expecting to find an ISO ourselves after the news broke and came up short, and because of that, we decided to simply ‘roll our own’.

Ever since the advent of Steam for Linux, performance issues have miffed gamers; especially those who are using Ubuntu’s Unity and are forced to use Compiz as their display compositor. Those issues have been combated in several ways. Nvidia and AMD have been ‘stepping up to the plate’ so to speak with increased performance from their drivers, and developers have been working towards more granular performance enhancements geared towards playing well with Xorg.
