Novell Launches New Certifications to Push Linux

The two programs are called the Certified Linux Engineer (CLE) program, and the SuSE certified Linux professional certification.

HP plans Opteron servers, AMD partnership

The Opteron systems initially will come with 32-bit versions of Windows or Linux. Within 60 to 90 days, 64-bit versions of Linux will arrive on the servers, and by the end of the year, Microsoft's 64-bit version of Windows, HP said.

Lycoris Desktop/LX Update 3, released last September, is a Linux distro aimed primarily at home user desktops. Lycoris has been widely heralded for its user-friendliness. If newbies can handle some manual configuration, they may be happy with Lycoris, but it won't satisfy more experienced users.
