June 29th, 2005: Mandriva announces a new support contract with MACIF, a major European personal insurance company, with a total of 4.5 million subscribers.
Mandriva mobilizes its unique Linux expertise to help MACIF's teams by handling Linux support Level 3 on part of MACIF's information network, for an unlimited number of computers.
With over 14.5 million insurance contracts to handle and 530 local branches to operate, MACIF's information system has a complex architecture, and contains highly sensitive information which must be kept secure. The Linux operating system combined with open source components like Samba (for file sharing) and MySQL (for database functions) has proven to be a reliable and efficient long-term solution for many companies, from SMBs to large accounts. As a leading Linux distributor, Mandriva offers unequalled expertise on these components.
Bruno Marand, Deputy Director, Information System, Architecture Unit, at MACIF said: “MACIF has chosen Linux and open source software for part of its information system. In the handling of these technologies, Mandriva's expertise has proven dramatically effective on some issues we had to sort out. This contract marks our renewed trust.”
Mandriva's enterprise support is designed to optimize the benefits of open source computing. It offers all the necessary tools for proactive and effective support:
- A call center, operated by qualified engineers working on incidents (level 1, 2 or 3)
- Technological survey on supported applications
- Laboratory to reproduce complex incidents
- Incident tracking software for customers
Mandriva's enterprise set of support options applies to all Linux distributions.
“This contract is an example of the kind of services we offer to large accounts. Every day, our engineers sort out complex technical issues for the greatest satisfaction of information system managers. We're delighted to be working with MACIF.”, said François Bancilhon, Mandriva CEO.
