Official: EU goes after Google, alleges it uses Android to kill competition
Amongst all the jargon, forks must thrive. The EU's competition authority thinks it has a smoking gun against Google. Consumers suffered because Google’s contracts with phone OEMs prevented the market from creating a better Android, the EU Commission alleged today.

Reputation versus the Amazonian hordes. Cloud killing on-premises kit for enterprise IT providers? Yes if you’re IBM, no if your name’s Red Hat. At least, according to Red Hat.

Escuelas ‘School’ Linux 4.4 Releasedf
There are more than a few things that are unusual about Escuelas Linux. For one, although ultimately derived from Ubuntu, it’s not a first generation descendant on the Ubuntu tree, but traces it’s *buntu roots by way of Bodhi Linux. The distro also uses the Moksha desktop, which Bodhi developed after becoming unhappy with the direction that Enlightenment was taking.
How to install Lighttpd with PHP-FPM and MariaDB on CentOS 7
Lighttpd is a secure, fast, standards-compliant web server designed for speed-critical environments. This tutorial shows how you can install
Lighttpd on a Centos 7 server with PHP support (through PHP-FPM) and MySQL support. PHP-FPM (FastCGI Process Manager) is an alternative PHP
FastCGI implementation with some additional features useful for sites of any size, especially busier sites. I use PHP-FPM in this tutorial

An introduction to terminal multiplexers
If you're new to server administration and command-line, perhaps you haven't heard of terminal multiplexers or what they do. You want to learn how to be a good Linux sysadmin and how to use the tools of the trade. Or perhaps you're a seasoned administrator already and administer quite a few machines, and want to make your life a little easier. Or maybe you're somewhere in between.
Skylake's power management under Linux is dreadful and you shouldn't buy one until it's fixed
Linux 4.5 seems to have got Intel's Skylake platform (ie, 6th-generation Core CPUs) to the point where graphics work pretty reliably, which is great progress (4.4 tended to lose all my windows every so often, especially over suspend/resume). I'm even running Wayland happily. Unfortunately one of the reasons I have a laptop is that I want to be able to do things like use it on battery, and power consumption's an important part of that.
