Mumble RPMs can help you with the popular Humble Indie Bundle game collections that don’t include an rpm package, thus not integrating well under your distribution (not taking care of dependencies, not offering easy install/uninstall option etc).

Configuring A LEMP System (Linux, nginx, MySQL, PHP-FPM) For Maximum Performance
If you are using nginx as your webserver, you are looking for a performance boost and better speed. nginx is fast by default, but you can optimize its performance and the performance of all parts (like PHP and MySQL) that work together with nginx. Here is a small, incomprehensive list of tips and tricks to configure your LEMP system (Linux, nginx, MySQL, PHP-FPM) for maximum performance. These tricks work for me, but your mileage may vary. Do not implement them all at once, but one by one and check what effect the modification has on your system's performance.

MapBox Aims For Open Source, Digital Map Revolution
“What a crazy week,” said Eric Gundersen, CEO of MapBox, a cloud-based digital map publishing company, in an interview with TPM. Gundersen’s point is well taken, given his small 25-person startup, based in Washington, D.C., just won a $575,000 grant from the journalism innovation nonprofit the Knight Foundation. The grant was awarded to MapBox specifically to allow the company to focus most of its resources over the next few months on improving its own main source of map data, OpenStreetMap, a free crowdsourced world map created by volunteer cartographers. It’s helpful to think of OpenStreetMap (OSM) as the “Wikipedia” of digital maps (although it’s not actually tied to Wikipedia). MapBox is an outside private company that uses the OSM data to build maps and mapping software, much of which it makes open source, for anyone to use for free, but some of which is proprietary and which it charges high prices to other companies and government agencies to access.

Advocacy groups decry Freiburg's stealth return to proprietary office
In May, plans leaked that Freiburg's IT department is preparing the city's return to using a proprietary office suite, replacing the free and open source suite OpenOffice. That decision is based on a report from an external consultant, which is kept under wraps. The report has not been shared with the members of the city council. Requests by the press and by the Free Software Foundation Europe to publish the report were denied by the city. The state of Baden-Württemberg does not have a Freedom of Information Act. Freiburg has since May also ignored questions on how it will procure the licences for the software that it wants to use. European procurement rules do not allow requests for a specific brand or product.

Yet more on screencasting with ffmpeg
With a recent upgrade (apt-get dist-upgrade to 12.04, custom-built Ubuntu) to my office machine, I started having serious audio/video sync issues when producing screencasts using recordmydesktop. As you may (or may not) recall, I record lectures on my computer and use, as a sort of visual aid, an on-screen whiteboard, where I type key words or phrases about which I'm speaking: that's what I capture from my screen when I'm recording these screencasts. Well, with the updated recordmydesktop, the text on my on-screen whiteboard would begin to appear several seconds before the audio about the word or phrase was indicating its appearance.
