This article is a review of the KDE edition, using a 32-bit ISO installation image. When first booting the system, one of the first things I noticed was that the boot with music option, which was the default, has been removed.

This document describes how to install a PureFTPd server that uses virtual users from a MySQL database instead of real system users. This is much more performant and allows to have thousands of ftp users on a single machine. In addition to that I will show the use of quota and upload/download bandwidth limits with this setup. Passwords will be stored encrypted as MD5 strings in the database. This tutorial is based on Ubuntu 12.04.
App Developers Tilt Toward iOS
A survey of more than 3,600 Appcelerator Titanium developers has revealed that they would rather develop mobile apps for iOS than for Android. iOS led Android by 16 percent in the Appcelerator/IDC Q2 2012 Mobile Developer Report. Fifty-three percent of the respondents believed that iOS was winning in enterprise app development, whereas only 37 percent believed Android was.
How to customize power management in Linux Mint 13 - MATE
In Windows 7 or Ubuntu, there is the power management option for you to customize things like what to do when laptop battery is low, hard drive behavior when you are using battery, what to do when you press the power button ... However, in Linux Mint 13 - MATE edition, you will not find the power management option the Mint Menu. To customize the power management in Linux Mint 13 - MATE, you need to hit Alt + F2 then type "mateconf-editor" to open the configuration window. On that window, go to apps then expand the mate-power-manager menu and you will see many options to customize the power management.

Flemish voting machines to run on Linux operating system
The new voting machines to be used by the government of Flanders, Belgium, will use the Linux open source operating system, according to a report by Binnenband, a magazine targeting Flanders' public administrations. The machine itself contains no software at all, no hard disk and only a few bytes of flash memory. For each election, a tailored Linux operating software and the list of candidates is loaded on a USB drive.
