Damn! I did not know the dress code was blue tie and male. I am at Dells big summit with Michael Dell in Copenhagen. Here we learn how to say “shut up *****” and that women don’t belong in tech. (Not a Linux story, just another way that Dell stinks in addition to being a crummy Linux vendor-- TC)
And Dell non-apologizes to CNET: http://news.cnet.com/8301-31322_3-57431869-256/why-we-need-t...

There was a very interesting session at UDS by Google developer Thomas Bushnell. He talked about how Ubuntu, its derivatives and Goobuntu (Google's customized Ubuntu based distro) are used by Google developers. He starts by saying 'Precise Rocks' and that many Google employees use Ubuntu including managers, software engineers, translators, people who wrote original Unix, people who have no clue about Unix etc. Many developers working on Chrome and Android use Ubuntu.

Oracle's Mostly Denied Motion For JMOL on Fair Use, as text ~ pj Updated 2Xs
I thought you'd like to see the Oracle motion that the Hon. William Alsup denied Wednesday, after a couple of hours of oral argument. I see at least one person tweeting that the judge has ruled that APIs are not copyrightable. He hasn't ruled on that yet. This was something else. You can read about the judge's ruling here.
What he did rule on were two motions for judgment as a matter of law.

LXer Feature: 12-May-2012
I had written an article in beta days. I want to revisit the topic. No operating system is perfect, so to consider Ubuntu to be bug free is just like saying software does not have bugs. The reality is software always has bugs. Its the amount and severity of bugs that gives a good metrics of how usable a system is.
