Ouya Open Gaming Console Gets Funding--and Some Buzz
While it isn't the first inexpensive gaming console and open gaming platform to test the market, the open source Ouya gaming platform is generating buzz. A Los Angeles-based project, Ouya is billed as "a new kind of video game console" on Kickstarter, the open crowd funding online site dedicated to giving innovative ideas a chance in the market. As CNet notes, it only took about eight hours of crowdsourced funding on Kickstarter for Ouya's $950,000 startup goal to be met. Can this open, hackable game platform do as well in the actual market?

KDE assures users they can depend on Qt
KDE contributor and OpenSUSE community manager Jos Poortvliet has written a blog posting on the KDE news site, explaining the KDE project's stance on the future of Qt. According to the statement, the KDE leadership believes that their agreement with Nokia will ensure that there will be a competitive open source version of Qt for the foreseeable future. Their plans see the open source community around Qt collaborate with Nokia's development teams and continue to build KDE software with the toolkit.
Why I Won't Buy Amazon Phone
Amazon is reportedly working on its own Android based smartphone. Bloomberg published a story last week and now Wall Street Journal has also reported the 'existence' of Amazon smartphone. According to their sources the device is being tested with Asian suppliers and can go in mass production later this year or next year. Personally I have nothing against Amazon and I am a huge fan of Amazon when it comes to buy stuff from them. There service is awesome. But at the same time am pro-user which means I care more about the freedom that a user must have and Amazon's Kindle Fire denies that freedom, so will Amazon smartphone.
