Others want a desktop OS that will hold their hand if they run into problems. There is no single distribution that provides all of the right answers; each GNU/Linux user has to find the operating system distribution that best meets their own needs. In a previous article extended file attributes were presented. These are additional bits of metadata that are tied to the file and can be used in a variety of ways. This tutorial explains the installation of a Samba fileserver on OpenSUSE 11.4 and how to configure it to share files over the SMB protocol as well as how to add users. Samba is configured as a standalone server, not as a domain controller. In the resulting setup, every user has his own home directory accessible via the SMB protocol and all users have a shared directory with read-/write access.

I have been a huge fan and user of Linux for well over 10 years. In that time, I have seen just about every piece of drama that can come from a community.
