Ohio LinuxFest 2010 -- September 10-12
The 2010 Ohio LinuxFest is less than a month away. Taking place September 10-12, 2010 in the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, this conference welcomes everyone interested in Free & Open Source Software, from people looking to learn, professionals, hobbyists, and everyone in between. The conference starts Friday, September 10, with a variety of events. OLFU offers training classes for the FOSS professional, as well as a Linux Basics class for folks new to Linux who want to learn from professional instructors how to install. The Early Birds track offers a chance to see the type of talks that will be presented the next day, while the Medical Track has the first of two days of talks and panels. Ubucon will offer Ubuntu specific discussions and talks. Friday's events end with the Friday Keynote by that Linux great, Jon "maddog" Hall. Later there will be the official "pre-party", a social gathering. Saturday starts off with the morning keynote, Stormy Peters, Executive Director of the GNOME Foundation. Then the day is filled with FOUR tracks filled with speakers like Paul Frields, Amber Graner, Tarus Balog, and Catherine Devlin, on a rainbow of topics including Linux security, PC-BSD, Arduino, SQL and much much more. The Medical Track continues Saturday with more talks about bringing Open Source into medicine, and the Open Source Solutions Stage is a place for vendors to talk about how their Open Source product might be right for you. Additional Saturday fun includes raffles, lunchtime with The Linux Link Tech show and the expo. Saturday ends with the evening Keynote, Christopher "Monty" Montgomery, founder of Xiph.org, best known for his creation of the Open Source audio format, Ogg Vorbis.
