Dear Ubuntu users, the time has come to say goodbye to the Server Edition of the first LTS (Long Term Support) release of the popular Ubuntu operating system, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake), as on June 1st it will reach end of life.

Announced five years ago, on Wednesday, June 1st, 2006, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake) was the first long-term-support version of the Ubuntu operating system and it was powered by Linux kernel 2.6.15 and GNOME 2.14.

Starting with June 1st, Canonical will stop "feeding" its Ubuntu 6.06 LTS operating system with security/critical fixes and software updates! Those of you who still use Dapper Drake and want to upgrade will have to choose another supported LTS release, Ubuntu 8.04.3 (Hardy Heron), which is supported for two more years.
