There are various ways to encrypt some private files in your Dropbox folder: you can use Truecript, EncFS, SecretSync (now available for Linux too) etc. but I find EncFS to be the best/easiest solution. Read on.

The instructions were almost word for word, how I described setting up an encrypted folder with UbuntuOne, that I posted on lxer some time ago.
