(Sacramento, CA, USA: April 12, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization (http://www.lpi.org), announced revisions to its LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certification exam objectives and subsequent exam question updates.

Summary of Changes for LPIC-1:
New versions of LPI-101 and LPI-102 exams for LPIC-1 will be published on July 2, 2012. Minor changes to the detailed objectives of LPIC-1 included in these new exams are as follows:
- Explicit coverage at the basic configuration level of GRUB 2
- Explicit coverage of the ext4 filesystem
- Basic feature knowledge of systemd and Upstart
- Basic feature knowledge of IPv6 and LVM
- Removal of LILO coverage
Summary of Changes for LPIC-2:
New versions of LPI-201 and LPI-202 exams for LPIC-2 will be published on August 1, 2012. These changes are as follows:
- Explicit coverage of the ext4 filesystem
- Explicit coverage of the IPv6
- Basic feature knowledge of xfsdump/xfsrestore commands
- Explicit coverage of Linux 3.0 kernel
