Eighteen German universities will deploy the ownCloud open source file syncing and sharing platform for building private clouds.

ownCloud and open source private cloud computing have received a major endorsement from an association of educational institutions in Germany, which has announced its adoption of ownCloud to bring file syncing and sharing to as many as 500,000 new users.
