Trustix Secure Linux 2.1 BETA 1 announced
Note that this is considered beta software and not recommended for production use. There is still some work left on it before we consider it a real Trustix release.
So why do we release it? We feel we're getting close to a point where this version of TSL is ready for release, but would like more input from our users before releasing this as a proper 2.1 release.

This is the README file for Trustix Secure Linux 2.1 Beta 1 also known as Snow.
Note that this is considered beta software and not recommended for production use. There is still some work left on it before we consider it a real Trustix release.
So why do we release it? We feel we're getting close to a point where this version of TSL is ready for release, but would like more input from our users before releasing this as a proper 2.1 release.
All suggestions and bug reports are much appreciated, we would especially like testing and feedback on these new features:
- Samba with kerberos in an Active Directory environment
- The new bind package structure (with better support for rndc and zone xfers)
- We've introduced IBM's stack smashing protector patch to GCC in this release, and like all changes to the compiler toolset, this means that we would like you to test that your favourite software still works as desired (or at least as well as it used to) with your configuration.
So what does this release feature?
- Swup 2.3
- Samba 3.0.2
- Perl 5.8.3
- PHP 4.3.4
- Mysql 4.0.17
- Postfix 2.0.18
- MIT Kerberos v5
- DKMS
- Postgresql 7.4.1
- OpenSSH 3.7.1p2
- bind 9.2.3
and quite some more.
So where can you find it? Check out your local mirror under pre-releases or go to the Trustix distribution servers.
Happy thoughts,
The Trustix Team
