Tails 7.0 Now Available for Testing, Based on Debian 13 “Trixie” and GNOME 48

The Tails project announced today the general availability for public testing of the Release Candidate (RC) version of the upcoming Tails 7.0 release, a major update to this portable operating system based on Debian GNU/Linux that protects users against surveillance and censorship.

Based on the soon-to-be-released Debian GNU/Linux 13 “Trixie” operating system series and powered by the long-term supported Linux 6.12 LTS kernel series, Tails 7.0 will be shipping with the latest GNOME 48 desktop environment by default, featuring the GNOME Console and GNOME Loupe apps.
