Canonical released Snapshot 3 of the upcoming Ubuntu 26.10 (Stonking Stingray) release as the third development milestone targeting early adopters and application developers who want to test their apps.

Development of Ubuntu 26.10 (codename Stonking Stingray) kicked off on April 30th, 2026, with the usual toolchain upload, based on the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) release, which means that it’s powered by Linux kernel 7.0 and uses the GNOME 50 desktop environment.
