OpenSSL 4.0.3 has been released today as the third maintenance/security update to the latest OpenSSL 4.0 series of this widely used TLS/SSL and crypto library for providing secure communications over computer networks.

Coming a month after OpenSSL 4.0.2, the OpenSSL 4.0.3 release is here to address several important security vulnerabilities, including a use-after-free in X.509 extension cache under concurrent use (CVE-2026-84783), and a potential CPU DoS via O(n^2) fragment reassembly in QUIC (CVE-2026-42772).
