Linux Lite 8.2 has been released today as the second installment in the Linux Lite 8 series of this Ubuntu-based distribution featuring the lightweight Xfce desktop environment.

Still based on the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon) operating system series and featuring the Xfce 4.20 desktop environment, Linux Lite 8.2 is powered by the latest and greatest Linux kernel 7.3, a major update compared to the Linux 7.0 kernel shipped in Linux Lite 8.0, for better hardware support.

Linux Lite 8.2 introduces a new USB Writer Formatter app written in GTK4, a rewrite of Mintstick from Linux Mint, which combines the image writer and formatter into a single app. The app shows live transfer speed and ETA while writing, and verifies Linux Lite ISOs against their official SHA256 checksums.
