Enlightenment 0.28 has been released today by Carsten Haitzler as a major update to this free and open-source lightweight and modern desktop environment and window manager for Linux and BSD systems.

Coming seven and a half months after Enlightenment 0.27, the Enlightenment 0.28 release introduces a new NetworkManager module that supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth networking, and VPNs, with network signal strength, security indicators, connection details, tooltips, and saved connection management.

The NetworkManager module also supports VPN import, traffic indicators, and captive portal login handling. In addition, Enlightenment now automatically detects NetworkManager and ConnMan network management backends, and both received buttons for forgetting saved connections.
