Empower Technologies(TM) Collaborates With Texas Instruments University Program Worldwide
Empower Technologies Corporation (Empower) is very pleased to announce that it has begun a joint international sales effort with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) to promote its LDK591x family of LEOs (LinuxDA Embedded O/S) for TI's OMAP591x dual-core processor embedded software development kits to over 2,000 of the top universities and technical colleges worldwide. "We are delighted to have Empower Technologies join the efforts of the TI University Program to provide access to high technology equipment at educational prices, such as their LDK5910 and LDK5912 developer kits to engineering students, researchers and educators worldwide," said Cathy Wicks, worldwide university program manager, TI. Educators who adopt LEOs into their curriculum will ensure that their students gain important design experience with a product that is becoming widely accepted in the industry and that developing with LEOs will give the students the power and flexibility needed to create the next generation embedded innovations and designs. Using the LEOs Software Development Kit (SDK), the students will also learn first hand dual-core processor software design and programming which will prepare them for the new multi-core multi-processor programming environment which is fast becoming the new standard for computing architecture. Another advantage of LEOs and LDK591x development kits is that it provides students exposure to digital signal processor (DSP) programming and codec development using TI's proprietary DSP/BIOS(TM) Link and Code Composer Studio(TM) Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The University Program promotion represents an opportunity for Empower to benefit directly from LDK591x development kit sales in the education market and indirectly by exposing the next generation of embedded software and DSP programmers to the power of LEOs embedded operating system and TI's dual-core processor and DSP technologies. Future university and college computer and engineering graduates worldwide now have the opportunity to begin early in their professional development career training with Empower's LEOs at a time when the Linux based embedded operating system is working its way to becoming a software standard among systems and applications programmers and device developers. "We are very pleased to work with TI on the University Program to incubate a large number of very talented and specifically targeted software/application and hardware developers, innovators and entrepreneurs who will one day be applying LEOs, Empower and TI technologies in the global embedded markets. Armed with the skills to develop innovations using LEOs, Empower and TI technologies, the graduates, researchers and future business leaders will start to enter their various industries and sooner or later will begin influencing and making decisions to Empower and TI's advantage," said Alex Romanov, VP sales and marketing. As an added value, TI has generously offered a free copy of Code Composer Studio IDE with each LDK5910 and LDK5912 purchased through the joint Empower and Texas Instruments University Program promotion. About Texas Instruments University Program The TI DSP University Program was established to facilitate the inclusion of leading edge semiconductor technology into engineering research and course curricula. Digital signal processing knowledge is already preferred by employers when hiring, and the ever-increasing prevalence of DSP technology in the world today is fast turning that preference into a requirement. Universities realize the need to graduate DSP-literate engineers, and they look to a world leader in real time signal processing, Texas Instruments, when seeking to improve the quality of engineering education and DSP classes and labs at the university. Hundreds of universities around the world are members of the TI DSP University Program because TI's TMS320(TM) DSP family is the DSP standard with a variety of teaching materials readily available. More than 1600 universities in Asia, India, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas choose TI DSP to provide real world signal processing experience for their students.
