Hello, The month of February 2004 was another busy month for the Linux Professional Institute.
LPI-Brazil is one of LPI's affiliates and they have tried to create a strong presence in Brazil to ensure LPI becomes well known in Government, Academia and the Corporate world. IBM and Bradford Learning have had their courseware approved by the process shown on the LPI web site in the above web page for some time and most recently a new offering of LATM is available from Linux Certified. http://www.linuxcertified.com Anyone interested in purchasing LATM should contact the courseware developer. 3; LPI will travel to various locations over the next few weeks.

USA Scott Lamberton (Director of Communication) is part of a panel on Saturday on "Sustaining and Supporting Open Source Software: A Dive into Open Source Support Models" (http://www.nten.org/conferences-2004-ntc-osssupport) He and Stacy Gildenston (Director of Certification) and are part of a number of panels during "Penguin Day" on Sunday, March 28 sponsored in part by the Non-Profit Open Source Initiative (NOSI). 6; LPI in Brussels and Bulgaria
Glenn McKnight, our business director, met with many interested French speaking contacts when he flew to Brussels to attend the Fossdem and Freeedem conferences last month.
He was able to let them know that LPI is at present translating the exams into French as well as Portuguese, Chinese, German and Spanish. We will provide details as soon as these exams are published at Vue and Prometric within the next few weeks.
He then went on to Bulgaria to do the first LPI exam lab in that country - and met with many groups interested in supporting LPI in Eastern Europe.
7; Once again LPI is looking for input from the community.
In the next 2 weeks we will have an interface ready to accept new items to keep the exams uptodate. Please watch the web site and mailing lists for details on this process which will ensure LPI remains a valid and quality worldwide certification.
We are also looking for input on Level 2 and 3 (Samba and Security) job tasks, please give us some of your ideas on the job tasks for these levels;

9. Samba Training
Finally, Jon Terpstra, one of the Samba team members (who has been a supporter of LPI for many years ) will host a Samba training day in Toronto on April 16th following the Real World Linux Show (see above). The event will be held at the Strathcona Hotel, Toronto.
