GPL Challenges: A Reality Check

Have you ever sat back and pondered why we don’t see more Linux OEMs distributing Linux over Windows? Most might find themselves running down the usual list of reasons, but I have one that you might not have considered - the GPL.

To me, the GPL is a double edged sword. Its positive aspects can be seen with projects, such as the Linux kernel and Firefox. But its negative side can be seen as more and more Linux distributions are using legal work-arounds to bypass GPL restrictions. Why? Simple, it's restricting what the developers/sponsors of these distributions are trying to do.
