My goal with Knolinux 6 months ago was to get at least most of the top ten of Distrowatch reviewed, minus only Fedora and openSuse (we need not go into why on those, just personal reasons) and one that I always look forward to was Sabayon. Originally called RR4/64, Sabayon is an Italian (sorry everyone) project that takes the excellence of a Gentoo system and adds a ease of installation and eye candy appeal that is second to none.

I've just installed this on hdb1 of our test machine and to this point, I gotta say it's sweet. Changes are huge under the hood. Cosmetics are improved, read that to say that the horrid fish aquarium is now toast. 3d and beryl worked OOTB without any futzing with it and he's done something to speed up the synaptic process...appears to be some sort of pre-linking auto-magic. This one might be a keeper. As always, this mepis remains as solid and unflappable under load. I've hammered the bejewels out of it and I haven't made it crash yet.
