Has Fedora Lost Its Charm?

Don't get me wrong, Fedora is an excellent distribution but it seems to be losing some of its speed. I will still likely use Fedora 7 on a number of personal machines in hopes that Fedora 8 rebounds, but I certainly have been tempted to install Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

I make a fearless prediction before reading the article: anything that starts out "Don't get me wrong" is going to be followed by a great big "but." "I really love this so don't be mad at me, but it sucks rocks."

What's interesting is that the LXer teaser is actually the last paragraph in the article.

I tried the Fedora 7 Live CD last night on my wife's laptop. Wow. It was beautiful. The fonts looked great even at 1280x800. Beryl also works well. I was much more impressed with Fedora than with Feisty, at least on that laptop.
