What Microsoft Could Gain from OSS and Linux

Last time, we discussed Microsoft, their approach to protecting patents and why the enforcement of this is going to cost them much more than just some market share. Today, we will be taking this a step further by examining what they are losing out on by continuing with their dinosaur approach to creative property.

I understand Microsoft's desire to stick with the closed source model when it comes to their Windows OS. I’m not saying I "love" the idea, but they are in a position where there has been little reason for them to change the way they are doing things on this end. Well, that and it is difficult to rule the OS world with an operating system based on open source code.
