In the previous piece on Mandriva's usability, we looked at the good and the bad of booting to the Live CD and then finally installing the distribution. In this article, we will pick up with installing software, the available selection of such software and the overall analysis of the distro.

Why is it that people tolerate broken hardware compatibility with distros, such as Ubuntu? You remember when they managed to break previously working wireless cards and scanners all in the name of 'an improved version of the distro'? Simple, because of the software and community participation that Ubuntu has experienced since its inception.
