Full Event Description Tim Ney has confirmed his presence at the Center for Community Informatics next Tuesday, March 28, to speak about the open source movement and collaborative software development. The lecture will happen at the Distance Learning Classroom in all three campuses (Charles Street, Timonium and Columbia), from 7:45 PM to 9:55 PM. Tim Ney has a wealth of experience in technology and media. He is well-known and respected in the open source community for his advocacy of digital access, as well as his knowledge of licensing and business models. He has advised governments in Brazil, Chile and Korea. Mr. Ney played a crucial role in growing and developing the GNOME and Free Software foundations where he oversaw legal, fundraising and administrative efforts and the organization of training conferences around the world. He is a co-founder of the Linux Greenhouse, a virtual incubator. Mr. Ney also served as the Executive Director of the Independent Feature Project, an association of independent filmmakers. He has produced documentary and feature films in the U.S. and Europe. He serves on the board of the Solo Foundation and the advisory board of Composers Collaborative.
