When it comes to open source operating systems, most people consider Linux the only choice. This is simply not the case. No, there is one operating system known as BSD that has gone largely ignored by the mainstream world.

- BSD's license differs from the GNU Public license. Contrary to popular belief, BSD has its own license that is in no way related to that of the GNU licenses. In many ways, there is a long standing belief that BSD offers a more flexible license as binary-only distributions are allowed. With Linux, the source code must be supplied with each distribution release.
