I have a need for several Linux laptops. They need to be as inexpensive as possible. Wal-mart's 'Balance' line of products would be ideal. But we need them soon and Wal-mart has been out of stock on the less expensive models for a long time. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Steve

The cheap part is the killer. Yes, you can find mid to high end laptops with little trouble, but finding cheap ones is much harder. That said, I found a couple of options in the $900-$1000 range. Not quite as good as the $500 Walmart units, but probably as good as you'll find.

Hopefully this is of some help.

I can vouch for the linux certified lc2000 series. Very nice and light indeed! All works great with Ubuntu Breezy including wpa-supplicant with the wireless card.
