Recently sony has announced that Playstation will come with GNU/Linux. Recently somebody has created a petition to Nintendo in order to have an open framework to develope free programs in Revolution and to possibility to execute, for example, GNU/Linux or another free system. The link: http://www.petitiononline.com/revframe/ The petition: To: Satoru Iwata This is a petition to Nintendo to allow development of homebrew games and programs in revolution (with non comertial purposes). GNU/Linux would be a possibility (Sony has announced that PS3 will come with linux). But we know that is not he only possibility. What we want is a way of making our own ***non-commertial*** programs (like linux, amateur programs, free software) and run them easily on revolution, returning again to the good days of the scene. We do not want Revolution to become an "easy to run ilegal copies of games" system. We want a console with a good developement framework and we encourage Nintendo to make a developement framework avaible to every user of Revolution, giving the developer/user/company the oportunity to expres his creativity and the power to use the full potential of this game console. Allowing (or helping) the community to port GNU/Linux to revolution (maybe by providing closed-source drivers to the linux kernel), would be an option, but it is not the final purpose of this petition. We want Nintendo to provide/sell us, as well as games, a development framework to the hackers and make "Revolution" a bigger revolution. Nintendo as well could promote the amateur developing in Nintendo revolution with coding competitions, etc ... Sincerely, The Undersigned
